As a patron of the Australian Institute of Traffic
Planning & Management (AITPM) I know the strength of the Institute is the communication network it offers to traffic, transport and road safety practitioners throughout Australia.
AITPM is very active in promoting current issues to these complementary disciplines via the Institutes
newsletter, technical forums and the flagship event, the Annual National Conference.
I am pleased to have the opportunity to officially open the 2001 Conference in Melbourne on the 7th June 2001.
The Conference will provide an excellent opportunity for AITPM members and other
interested parties to increase their knowledge, exchange ideas and research, and develop professional networks.
Your support will assist AITPM to ensure the success of the conference, and to maintain
its important role in advancing traffic planning and management with ongoing communications to Institute members and the wider traffic and transport fraternity.
I therefore commend the 2001 Conference for your participation.
Yours faithfully
The Hon. Peter Batchelor, MP Patron AITPM Minister for Transport, Victoria
